A collection of portraits and extracts of conversations detailing the experiences and conditions of a previous generation’s working life; memories of life in rural Wiltshire stretching back to the second world war.
reCollections was a project commissioned by Celebrating Age Wiltshire, a county-wide project to deliver culture and heritage events and activities to support the wellbeing of older people.
Between May and October 2019 reCollections events were held in Corsham, Box and Lacock to celebrate and share the working lives of local people within their community. The exhibition of portraits was a culmination of the wider community engagement project.
reCollections portraits were exhibited at Springfield Community Campus, Corsham in November 2019. Further exhibitions are planned around north Wiltshire once lockdown ends. The project received funding and support from Arts Council England, Wiltshire Music Centre, Pound Arts Centre, Corsham Area Board.
